Biography

Alejo spent four years working in private practice directly for former IRS Acting Commissioner, Steven Miller. Alejo used the time under Mr. Miller’s tutelage to learn the intricacies of IRS practice and procedures which allows him to serve his clients in the best possible manner.

Alejo’s extensive tax controversy experience includes the resolution of multimillion-dollar issues in federal and state tax audits. Since joining the firm in 2020, he has represented businesses and individuals in front of the IRS and a number of state taxing agencies through audits and appeals. Alejo has led settlement negotiations with the IRS in mediation settings and in Tax Court. Alejo has helped taxpayers dealing with IRS collections to resolve balances due through offers in compromise, installment agreements, and other collection alternatives. He has successfully fought for clients with issues in captive insurance, penalty assessments, the R&D credit, 179D deductions, IC-DISC, the timing of income and deductions, hobby loss issues, promoter audits, tax liens and levies, tax preparer injunctions, transfer pricing, filing penalties, statute of limitations, among others.

Born in Colombia, Alejo understands multicultural issues and he has a diverse perspective when resolving problems. Most importantly, he helps taxpayers get their issues heard by the IRS. Alejo graduated with Distinction from Georgetown University Law Center in DC, with his L.L.M. in tax. He was Magna Cum Laude at California Western School of Law, where he completed his degree in 2 years. Alejo is fluent in English and Spanish.
